One more reason to vote for Michael Nutter for Mayor

Not long after I got home from work today, I got a phone call. It was from an anonymous number, but I answered it anyway. It turns out it was a survey/poll about the candidates for the Philadelphia Mayoral primary next week. After giving my opinions about the candidates (positive toward Michael Nutter and Dwight Evans, neutral toward Chaka Fattah, and negative toward Tom Knox and Bob Brady), I was asked, "If I told you that opponents of Michael Nutter's crime plan say that it would allow police to stop anyone anywhere at any time, unfairly target blacks in poor neighborhoods, and is unconstitutional, would it affect your feelings toward Michael Nutter favorably, unfavorably, or not at all?" I told him not at all, since it was obviously a push poll designed to hurt Nutter's chances in the election. I finished the last question and politely said goodbye. I mean, the guy just works for a polling company and he's just doing his job, so there was no reason to be rude to him.

I then picked up the phone and called Nutter's headquarters and told them about the poll, which they were very interested in. It is obviously either Bob Brady's or Tom Knox's campaign (or both) behind the poll, since they're the only ones who stand to gain by Nutter's defeat. And honestly, it is EXACTLY this sort of crap which makes me feel so negatively toward Brady and Knox to begin with, using these sneaky, underhanded tactics and negative campaigning to malign their opponents rather than actually deal with the real issues head on, trying to buy their way into office with exorbitant sums of money and political influence and threats. That and their apparent stupidity in thinking that Philadelphians won't see through their bullshit.

Lemme tell you, if there was any chance I wouldn't vote in the primary, it's gone now. Bob Brady and Tom Knox, if you're reading this: you totally sealed my vote for Michael Nutter. I hope you do the same with others. See you on election day!
